| Gordon Walker, Q.C. |
Corporate DirectorMr. Gordon Walker has been a member of various boards of directors for much of his working life. That range has included charitable public boards, private business boards and publicly listed corporation's boards of directors. His political history at the elected and volunteer level has meant an even greater accumulation of board memberships. Mr. Walker has been at the Municipal level a city councillor in London, Ontario, over 5 years that saw him appointed to a dozen boards such as the municipal retirement home, the Western Fair Board, the Children's Aid and many others. At the Provincial level, an elected MPP for 12 years, he found himself on a number of boards, but on one very important board, the Cabinet where for 7 years he was a senior Cabinet Minister covering many ministries of the day. At the federal level, serving on many Crown Corporation Boards of Directors to which he was appointed, he was also Canadian Commissioner on the International Joint Commission, a joint US/Canada organization administering dozens of boards and controlling the waterways between the two nations. Political Party affiliation has seen him be not just a senior corporate fundraiser for his party but also serving as a governing board member of the official party boards of directors that serve as official organs of the party under Election Expenses Commissions. In the last 10 years he has been a member of various charitable organizations, including the Toronto Symphony Orchestra, where he continues today as an Honorary Governor, and private corporations such as First Canadian Property Investments, a business in which he is one of two principals, and other private corporations where he is a board member, and two publicly traded corporations, Cygnal Technologies Inc., and of some notoriety, Hollinger Inc., where he was a director and eventually Chairman during particularly turbulent times. |
